Distribution Center Construction
Full-service distribution center construction and expansion for logistics operations.
Distribution center construction in the DFW Metroplex serves one of the nation's most active logistics markets. Strategic location between coasts, extensive highway and rail infrastructure, and central population access make this region a premier distribution hub. We build facilities that enable efficient supply chain operations.
Distribution centers require careful attention to flow: the movement of goods from receiving docks through storage to shipping. Building layout, clear heights, dock positions, and floor flatness all affect operational efficiency. We work with your operations team to build facilities optimized for your specific requirements.
Modern distribution centers rely on technology that demands building infrastructure. Sortation systems, conveyor networks, and automated storage require precise floor flatness and reliable power. We coordinate with equipment vendors during construction to ensure buildings support planned systems.
Expansion capability is often important for distribution facilities. Growth projections are uncertain, but buildings designed for expansion can grow with operations. We design original buildings with expansion in mind: structural systems, utility capacity, and site layout that accommodate future phases.

Frequently Asked Questions
What clear heights do distribution centers need?
Modern distribution centers typically require 32-40 foot clear heights to maximize storage density with high-rack systems. Requirements depend on racking configuration and material handling equipment. We help clients balance height with construction cost.
How are dock requirements determined?
Dock count depends on throughput volume, turn time, and peak period demands. Door spacing typically runs 10-12 feet between doors, limited by interior column lines and dock equipment clearances. Cross-dock operations have different requirements than traditional distribution.
What floor flatness is required?
Very narrow aisle (VNA) and automated storage require extremely flat floors: FF50/FL30 or better. Conventional distribution with traditional reach trucks operates well on FF35/FL25 floors. We match floor specs to your equipment requirements.
Can you accommodate specialized operations?
Yes. Food distribution has different requirements than general merchandise. E-commerce fulfillment differs from wholesale distribution. Hazardous materials require specific construction. We've built distribution centers for many specialized operations.
What about trailer parking and yard requirements?
Trailer parking depends on your operation's trailer pool and turn frequency. Some operations need minimal parking while others require hundreds of spots. We design trailer courts with heavy-duty concrete, lighting, and drainage for 24/7 operations.
